# Setting up the parent dashboard (/en/docs/platform/dashboard/setup)

The parent dashboard is at **app.safecircle.tech**. It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install.

<Callout>
  You need an account to get in. If you don't have one yet, start with [Join the beta](/en/docs/platform/private-beta/join).
</Callout>

## Sign in [#sign-in]

Go to **app.safecircle.tech** and sign in with your email and password, or with Google, Discord or Twitter / X if you created your account that way.

* **2-step verification** — if you turned it on, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Use **Can't access your app? Use a backup code** if you lost it.
* **Passkey** — click **Sign in with a passkey** to use biometrics or a hardware key instead of a password.
* **Forgot your password?** — click **Forgot password?**, enter your email and click **Send reset link**.

## Onboarding [#onboarding]

The first time you sign in with no children on your account, the dashboard opens a two-step setup.

<Steps>
  <Step>
    ### Add your first child [#add-your-first-child]

    Enter the child's name (for example, *Alex*) and click **Continue**. Click **Skip for now** if you would rather do this later from the **Children** page.

    <Callout>
      You can add as many children as you need. Each one has their own alerts, devices and photo.
    </Callout>
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Pair their device [#pair-their-device]

    Step 2 shows the pairing code and a numbered guide:

    1. Install the SafeCircle child app on the child's phone. See [Set up the child app](/en/docs/platform/android/setup).
    2. Open the app and follow the pairing step.
    3. Scan the **QR code**, or type the **6-digit code** shown under **PAIRING CODE**. Use **Copy** to copy it.

    A countdown shows how long the code is valid. Click **Done** when the device is linked. If the code expires, click **Try again** for a new one.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Callout type="warn">
  Pairing codes are valid for **5 minutes** and work once. Generating a new code invalidates any earlier unused one.
</Callout>

If pairing fails, check that both devices are online, the code hasn't expired and the child app is up to date. The onboarding screen has a **What if pairing fails?** note, and the [FAQ](/en/docs/support/faq) has a full checklist.

## Add another child or device later [#add-another-child-or-device-later]

Go to **Children** in the sidebar.

* **+ Add child** creates a new profile and generates a pairing code straight away.
* **New pairing code** (or **Add device** on an empty child) generates a code for another device.

See [Children and devices](/en/docs/platform/dashboard/children-devices) for everything else you can do there.
