Notifications
How you find out about new alerts — live alerts in the dashboard, push notifications in the parent app, unread counts and the Telegram bot.
SafeCircle tells you about new alerts in two ways: live alerts inside the dashboard, and push notifications from the parent app on your Android phone. The optional Telegram bot lets you look up your children and recent alerts, but it does not send alerts by itself.
Live alerts in the dashboard
While the dashboard is open, it checks for new alerts about every 30 seconds, and again whenever you switch back to the tab.
- Alert toasts — when a new alert arrives, a notification pops up. Click it to open the Alerts page.
- Bell — the bell in the top bar has a glowing dot when you have unread alerts. Hover over it to see how many are unread and how many are high risk; click it to see the latest five.
- Unread counts — shown on the Overview, on each child and on the Unread tab of the Alerts page.
To turn the pop-ups off, go to Settings › Interface › Notifications and switch off Show alert toasts. The bell and counts keep working.
Live alerts only appear while the dashboard is open in a browser tab. The dashboard doesn't send browser push notifications. To get a notification on your phone when the dashboard is closed, use the parent app.
Push notifications in the parent app
The SafeCircle Parent app for Android sends a push notification when a child's device raises a medium or high risk alert, even if the app is closed. It uses the same account as the dashboard. See Parent app notifications for channels, quiet hours and troubleshooting.
Alerts on Telegram
You can link your Telegram account to @safecirclehq_bot. The settings row is called Telegram alerts, but the bot only shows information when you ask for it: open its menu to see your children, their devices and your recent unread alerts. It does not push alerts to you as they arrive, so don't rely on it to be notified.
Generate a code
Go to Settings › Profile, find Telegram alerts and click Generate code. A Link code dialog opens with a code and a countdown.
Send it to the bot
Click Open bot to open @safecirclehq_bot in Telegram, then send:
/link CODEReplace CODE with the code from the dialog. The dialog shows the full command ready to copy.
Check the status
Back in Settings › Profile, the Telegram row shows a Linked badge.
The code is short-lived. If it expires, click Regenerate code for a new one. Show code reopens the current one.
To stop using the bot, click Unlink on the same row. You can link again at any time. For what the bot does and stores, see Telegram bot.
Expected latency
The child app analyses each monitored app at most once every 5 minutes, and only on text that is on screen at that moment, so a risk is not always detected the instant a message arrives. After that, how quickly you see it depends on the network, on how often the dashboard checks for new alerts (about every 30 seconds) and, for the parent app, on push delivery.
Not receiving alerts?
If none of these resolve it, see the FAQ or contact support@safecircle.tech. You can also use More › Report a bug in the dashboard.
