SafeCircle Search
A private search engine from SafeCircle — what it is, who it's for and how to use it.
SafeCircle Search is a private search engine for web, image and news results. It has no ads, no tracking and no search history, and it can lock safe search for a family.
Early alpha
SafeCircle Search is a new, separate site at search.safecircle.tech, first released as version 0.1.0 ("First Light"). It isn't built into the dashboard or the Android apps yet, and some family features aren't connected to them. See Safe search and family lock.
What it is
- Web, Images and News tabs, with results from Brave Search.
- Private by design — no cookies for visitors who aren't logged in, no logged searches and no third-party requests from your browser. See Privacy.
- Safe search — Off, Moderate or Strict, plus a family lock that forces Strict.
- Your preferences — region, language, theme and whether to open results in a new tab.
- Site rules — block, lower or raise specific websites in your results (with a SafeCircle login).
- English and Spanish.
How to use it
Open search.safecircle.tech in any browser and type in the search box. Use the Web, Images and News tabs to change the type of result.
Click the settings icon to change safe search, region, language, theme and other options. Without an account, your choices are saved in your browser only.
To make it your browser's default, add it as a search engine. The site publishes the information browsers need to do this, so most browsers offer it from the address bar or the search settings.
Log in (optional)
Click Log in to sign in with your SafeCircle account at app.safecircle.tech. Logged-in visitors get:
- Settings that sync across your devices
- Site rules, up to 500 per account
- Higher search limits
Searching without logging in always works, but if you search very quickly it asks you to wait a minute or log in.
Where it fits in SafeCircle
- It isn't part of monitoring. SafeCircle doesn't log searches, so searches made here don't appear in the dashboard or in alerts. The child app only reads the five supported apps.
- It isn't in the dashboard menu. There's no link to it from the dashboard or the apps yet. Use the address above.
